New Zealand has always been a bit of a melting pot when it comes to diversity. Waiheke as much as anywhere. While we are probably more famous for our Bordeaux blends, KP is a stellar example of the Waiheke Blend.
First dreamed into reality 20 years ago by an American couple from Hawaii, KP was quickly joined by a backpacking German girl who literally had her baby son rear slung during that first harvest. Heike has gone on to be the driving force behind the care we have for our vineyard – growing healthy plants from healthy land.
Those first owners have passed the dream on to Elizabeth, born in China, raised her family in New Zealand, and now proud and passionate owner of KP. Elizabeth is the heart of our family.
Francis our very talented winemaker is from heartland Waikato and waves the home nation flag for our triple star. He might be kiwi but his heart lies in France.
Gabrielle runs our Viticulture team. She is an island girl growing up in the Chathams, and Nauru Is and now lives on Waiheke Is. Her team is a mixture of locals and exuberant, enthusiastic back packers from all corners of the globe.
Our biodynamic team, Jessie and Kyla McMoo are highlanders all the way from Scotland.
It’s a bit of a rag bag, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
