Established in 1996, Kennedy Point Vineyard is planted on 13.5 acres of steep north facing slopes, on a warm protected site, at Kennedy Point on Waiheke Island in New Zealand.
Planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Viognier, our goal is to grow quality red wines that have ageing potential and can be enjoyed a few years after bottling.
Our wine includes grapes from three family owned vineyards, Oakura Bay, Whakarite Bay and Jasa. Each of these vineyards specialises in a particular grape variety.
Cabernet Sauvignon
Dark and rich in colour, our Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. The wine shows intense dark fruit, a touch of chocolate with spicy oak, fine tannins and excellent structure. Our Cabernet Sauvignon is a great food wine and should be aged for optimum enjoyment.
Syrah
Aged in French oak barriques this wine is a blend of Syrah with about 3% Viognier. Deliciously rich with a concentrated, and balanced palate of dark, spicy fruit, light oak and pepper.
Sauvignon Blanc
This Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc has fresh aromas of wild flowers and citrus, and a nice balanced palate of passion fruit and pineapple; it has a dry finish and is a great match for salads, seafood and any light summer meal.
Merlot
This Merlot dominant wine is a blend with Malbec and matured in French Oak barrels. It is full, round and supple with soft luscious plum and spicy oak flavours and a long finish. Like our Cabernet Sauvignon this Merlot can be cellared for years.
Pinot Noir
Marlborough fruit is processed at our Waiheke winery and aged in French oak for 15 months to produce this wine with ripe strawberry and red cherry fruit flavours and all the earthy characteristics that typify Pinot Noir.
Olive Oil
Kennedy Point Vineyard Estated bottled Olive Oil is a blend of Frantoio, Manzanillo, Koroniki, Mission, Verdale, J-5 and Ascalano olives. Golden Green in colour this ripe olive oil has flavours of grass, apples and ends with a crisp peppery finish. This oil is wonderful on summer salads and grilled vegetables, or simply with fresh breads.
Avocado Oil
Processed from ripe avocados grown in New Zealand's North Island. Includes all the same health benefits as olive oil.
