 Syrah 2007

Kennedy Point Syrah 2008 ......... Jancis Robinson's Syrah Pick in "Kiwi Fruits" by Jancis Robinson

Jancis Robinson, Financial Times, Jan '11

"Deep garnet in color, the 2009 Syrah gives moderate intensity of black cherry and pepper aromas with some tilled earth, tar and black tea notes. Crisp acid and a medium level of rounded tannins lend support to a fair amount of dark berry and spice flavors leading into a long peppery finish. Delicious now, it should keep to 2015."

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, Nov '10

“Waiheke Island’s Kennedy Point Vineyard has cleaned up at the 2009 International Wine Challenge. The prestigious event takes place in London and is the world’s largest wine competition, with more than 9500 entries judged by 370 of the industry’s most important people. Kennedy Point Syrah 2007 won the International Syrah Trophy, NZ Red Wine Trophy and NZ Syrah Trophy”

One customer's experience with Heike, our vineyard manager (right)

"I went on a wine tour for the first time in New Zealand. Most of the wines were very good although I mostly stuck to the whites. Many wineries bragged about accolades or reviews received, however, none of the wines jumped out at me. Then I tasted Kennedy Point Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2005, and to say that I was happily surprised was a gross under-statement! I was extremely impressed. It was full bodied without being too bitter. It didn't leave the dryness in my mouth afterwards. I bought two bottles and within 24 hours, I drank them both. I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone. Bravo Kennedy Point. Stick to it, you're doing everything right!"

Joshua P. Young, October 2011

"My guests were completely blown away by Dale and her presentation, the wine and the vineyard. I had taken them to other vineyards that day which they liked but they said that Dale's friendliness, expertise and time she gave them was way beyond the norm. Thanks for making my guests feel so looked after, it is part of what has made my company No 1 attraction on Waiheke with Trip Advisor!!"

Christine Gisby, See Waiheke Tours, November 2011

“Kennedy Point’s 2009 Sauvignon Blanc's aromas of elderberry flower, citrus, and passion fruit lead to fresh and tangy flavors of tropical fruit with a hint of gooeberry.“

Robert Parker, Independent Consumer's Guide to Fine Wine, Nov '10

“Waiheke’s Kennedy Point has had a good year with some rave reviews and a clutch of significant awards for a cross-section of their wines. This tiny producer is turning out to be the mouse that roared.”

John Hawkesby, Viva, NZ Herald 20th March 2010

I am increasingly excited about the quality of NZ Syrah grown by the likes of Craggy Range, Stonecroft and Unison of Hawke's Bay, by Schubert of Wairarapa, and Kennedy Point of Waiheke Island. It can be complex, savoury and much more subtle than Australian Shiraz, its cousin across the Tasman.”

Jancis Robinson, www.jancisrobinson.com, 4th July 2009

2008 Kennedy Point Syrah, another wine that includes a little viognier, this is youthful and intense, with impressive perfume, plenty of oak and age-worthy tannins. 18.5 points, drink 2015- 2018

Tim Atkin, Master of Wine.
